Post-Graduate Work Permit for International Students
If you are an international student who has completed a post-secondary program at a designated learning institution in Canada, you may be eligible to apply for a Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) upon graduation. This work permit allows you to stay and work in Canada after your studies, providing valuable work experience to help enhance your career prospects. To qualify for the PGWP, you must apply within 180 days of receiving your final transcript or official marks. It’s essential to maintain your temporary resident status in Canada during this time. If your study permit expires before you receive your grades, you have two options:
- Apply for a visitor record to extend your stay.
- Leave Canada and apply for your PGWP from outside the country.
